What a trip! Ben and I had an amazing week up in Island Park and Yellowstone. We stayed in a cabin just off the lake in Island Park and then ventured to Yellowstone for some serious canoeing. It was so nice to hit land after canoeing all day. This was the view from the shore by our campsite.

We were able to sneak right up on this little guy with the stealth of our canoe.

Bison.....It's what's for dinner. Good thing Ben didn't have his rifle!

Check out those legs!!!! Ben says to get your sunglasses out first so that you aren't blinded by the glare. The river channel between the two lakes got really shallow and too swift to paddle in. So, the last mile or so this was our way of traveling.

This is Lewis Lake. Don't let this calm picture fool you. Several boaters have drowned on this lake. We were warned of the afternoon winds, and the following day, sure enough, we got to experience them first hand.

This is the beginning of the river channel between the two lakes. It was a
nice day to be on the water.

I'm happy to see you've got all your ducks in a row. wahaha!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Thanks for sharing. Looks like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty and PEACEFUL up there! Glad you didn't drowned. I read a Yellowstone book that talked about Yellowstone lake and the afternoon winds, and how a boy scout troop got stuck and a bunch of them drowned. It was awful! Aren't you glad I'm telling you this after your trip instead of before?!
ReplyDeleteSo, I am so excited to see you and Ben again this coming summer and show you how the kids have grown! Keep writing!
There's nothing like the great outdoors, is there? So glad you get to experience things like this. I love Mom and Dad's photos from when they were young and went to places like Yellowstone. They got chased by a mama bear, and also had a lynx in their camp, judging by the photos. One of my favorite shots is of mom with her hair up, taking aim with a rifle. She always ate up that kind of adventure!
