A bit about me

A few weeks ago I had the idea of creating a blog so that Kattie's family could get to know me better since we have not been able to make it out to Missouri yet. So, this blog is an attempt to share with you some things about myself so that you might be able to know me better. First, I would like you to meet Wesley and Cooper (Wes on the left, Coop on the right). Wes is 4, and Coop is 2. They are absolutely incredible, and I love spending time with them. We had just dug some red potatoes out of the garden and they wanted to show them off. Wes and Coop love to be outside helping their dad with just about anything.

To give you a little bit of background on myself: I was born in a small town in southern Idaho. I grew up enjoying everything outdoors. This has continued throughout my life. I like hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, and gardening. We have always had a garden growing up. And since buying my own home in 2010, I have had a garden of my own. I must say, I'm no expert, but this year is a huge improvement over last year.
I went to Declo High School, where I played football, basketball, and ran track. Track was by far my favorite sport. I ran the 800 meter and two relays, the 4x400 meter and medley relays. After high school, I attended Utah State University for a year, and then served a mission to Sao Paulo Brazil. Upon my return, I finished my undergraduate at Utah State, and then went on to get an MBA in Agribusiness. I currently live in Shelley, Idaho. I work for the Farm Service Agency as a farm loan officer.
I look forward to getting to know all of Kattie's family. I will continue to post to this blog so that you can see some of the things we have been doing together, and hopefully get to know me better.

  1. How thoughtful of you! I just found your blog, after Kattie mentioned it the other day. It's wonderful to know more about you!
We share many interests: when I went to Ricks College, I took backpacking, horse riding, and packing and outfitting classes. They were awesome experiences with great teachers.
I've always loved camping and fishing. Anything in the great outdoors!
I want to go camping again some day. Love your pictures, and thanks for sharing.
